Potential Jurors More Upset at Government Steroid Witch-Hunt Than Roger Clemens’ Steroid Use

United States District Judge Reggie Walton is apparently having a difficult time finding a suitable jury for the Roger Clemens steroid perjury trial. It seems that potential jurors more likely to be upset at the government for their witch-hunt involving celebrity athletes than they are to be upset by the possibility that Roger Clemens lied about his use of anabolic steroids and human growth hormone. Curt Schilling Admits His Teams Used Steroids But Refuses to Give Up World Series Rings

Former Major League Baseball player Curt Schilling returned to the cozy saddle of his moral high horse to speak out against anabolic steroids once again in an interview with the radio sports talk show 97.5 “The Fanatic” in Philadelphia. He told the hosts that every team which had won the World Series over the past twenty years cheated by using anabolic steroids and/or performance-enhancing drugs. Apparently, this includes the World Series Championship team that he played for in 2001, 2004 and 2007. [Read more…]

Steroid Perjury Trial of the Self-Destructive Roger Clemens

The government’s pursuit of celebrity athletes can best be characterized as a witch-hunt in most cases. A notable exception is the case of Roger Clemens. Whereas the government seemingly tried to set up athletes such as Barry Bonds in order to pursue them on perjury charges for lying about their own steroid use, federal agents did not need to resort to these tactics with Roger Clemens. Professor Peter Keane thinks Roger Clemens gave federal prosecutors no choice but to indict him on perjury charges. Alex Rodriguez Reportedly Traveling with His “Steroid Mule”

The New York Daily News claims that New York Yankees baseball player Alex Rodriguez is once again traveling with his cousin Yuri Sucart. Sucart was spotted at the St. Regis Hotel in San Francisco where the Yankees were staying during their road series against the Oakland A’s. An unidentified source told the Daily News that Sucart has accompanied A-Rod on several trips.

Rodriguez identified Sucart as his “steroid mule” in the days following his admission of steroid use. A “steroid mule” is the term used to describe an individual who smuggles anabolic steroids and/or performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs) for another individual. Individuals employing steroid mules pay mules in order to avoid the risk of getting caught smuggling steroids into the United States. [Read more…]

Former BALCO Steroid Dealer Greg Anderson Coaches Youth Baseball

Greg Anderson, long-time childhood friend of Barry Bonds and convicted BALCO steroid dealer, is an assistant coach for a youth baseball team in the Burlingame Youth Baseball Association (BYBA) according to the New York Times. Anderson passed the BYBA screening process in spite of his association with the largest steroid scandal in sports history.

The parents of the 11- and 12-year old baseball players had mixed feelings about Anderson’s involvement with their children. Some felt his steroid past should keep him from associating with young baseball players while other parents were happy to have such a knowledgeable coach teaching their children. [Read more…]
