Spain’s Guardia Civil has arrested four men involved in the illegal distribution of anabolic steroids during an investigation codenamed “Operación Gym”. The steroid dealing allegedly operated out of a sports nutrition supplement store in the Madrid suburb of Las Rozas. The United States government has had a major setback in their case against the mastermind of an internet steroid distribution empire that allegedly generated close to €40 million. Steroids Cited in Downfall of Gay Porn Icon Erik Rhodes
Anabolic steroids have been cited in the death of gay pornographic film star Erik Rhodes (born James Elliott Naughtin). Rhodes died from an apparent heart attack in his sleep at age 30 on June 14, 2012. Steroids didn’t necessarily cause his death. There were many other drug, including crystal meth, that were part of his lifestyle. Yet, the fact that people are blaming steroids isn’t surprising since Rhodes’ last post on his personal blog described the alleged mega-doses of steroids that comprised his current cycle. Rich “Goose” Gossage, the Major League Baseball relief pitcher who was inducted into the Hall of Fame after an impressive 22-year career, believes Roger Clemens lied about his use of anabolic steroids and human growth hormone (hGH). Roger Clemens Acquitted on Steroid-Perjury Charges as Jury Rebukes Feds
It took a jury only one full day of deliberations after listening to arguments in the nine-week perjury trial of baseball legend Roger Clemens. Clemens was accused by the government of lying about the use of anabolic steroids and human growth hormone (hGH) when he appeared before Congress in 2008. Suicidal Cop on Steroids Invites Police to Shoot Out
A veteran New Jersey officer with the Clifton Police Department exchanged gunfire with SWAT teams after he barricaded himself inside his estranged wife’s home on Father’s Day. Richard Klementovich was eventually taken into custody after a ten-hour standoff. The Clifton cop had told his wife in an email that he was using anabolic steroids, was suicidal and had hoped that cops would kill him during the standoff. His death wish was “suicide by cop”. A former New York Police Department (NYPD) sergeant involved in a 2007 NYPD steroid scandal was recently busted stealing iPods, iPhones and iPads from the Apple Store in SoHo (New York). The irony of the arrest was that former “New York’s finest” was hired a security guard to protect the Apple Store from theft. The United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) decided to bring formal charges against Lance Armstrong accusing him of using various prohibited performance enhancing drugs and methods including the anabolic steroid testosterone, erythropoietin (EPO) and blood doping. A patrol officer with the Lake County Sheriff’s Department has been accused of operating a possible anabolic steroid laboratory in his apartment.
