Canadian Competitive Bodybuilder Who Sold Steroids Sentenced to Five Years Prison

Reiner Ruska, a 36- year old Canadian amateur bodybuilder, pleaded guilty to three counts of trafficking anabolic steroids and cocaine and one count of possessing more than $70,000 in proceeds from drug trafficking. Ruska was sentenced to five years in prison after defense attorney David Rose and federal prosecutor Lisa Matthews submitted a joint recommendation on his behalf. [Read more…]

Sprinter Debbie Dunn Tests Positive for Steroids, Quits Olympic Team

American sprinter Debbie Dunn tested positive for anabolic steroids during an anti-doping test administered at the United States Olympic Trials in Eugene (Oregon) on June 24, 2012. Dunn recorded an elevated testosterone:epitestosterone ratio (T:E ratio) that exceeded the 4:1 ratio allowed under the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Code. Sports Doctor Linked to Lance Armstrong Allegedly Created Secret Steroid-Olive Oil Mixture

The United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has accused an Italian sports doctor of formulating a secret anabolic steroid concoction for seven-time Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong and several other professional cyclists. Dr. Michele Ferrari, along with two other doctors, allegedly conspired with Lance Armstrong to traffic and administer performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs). Coroner Cites Steroids as Contributor to Death of British Bodybuilder David Kilroy

An inquest into the death of a 46-year old former competitive bodybuilder has been conducted to determine the cause of death. David Kilroy was found dead at his home by his daughter on May 15, 2012. The inquest involved an autopsy and examined the use of various drugs by the deceased, including anabolic steroids, cocaine and alcohol. “No Needles Ban” to Prevent Steroid Use at 2012 London Olympics

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has reminded athletes of its “no needles policy” that bans the possession of needles, syringes and any other steroid paraphernalia during the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. Several popular performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs) are delivered by intramuscular or subcutaneous injection. These include anabolic steroids (such as Deca Durabolin, Equipoise and Trenbolone), human growth hormone (hGH) and blood boosting drugs (such as erythropoietin [EPO] and PEGylated EPO [CERA]). Charlie Sheen recently told writer Eric Spitznagel that he used anabolic steroids to prepare for the role of the fictional character of Rick “Wild Thing” Vaughn in the movie “Major League”. The comments appearing in the July-August 2012 issue of Playboy Magazine were treated as breaking revelations of steroid use by several websites. Reggie Jackson Picks and Chooses Which Steroid Users Can Be in Hall of Fame

Reggie “Mr. October” Jackson recently told Sports Illustrated that he felt anabolic steroid use disqualified Major League Baseball players from consideration in the Hall of Fame. If a steroid user was elected to the Hall of Fame by the Baseball Writers Association of America, Jackson predicted that their induction would be boycotted by current Hall of Famers.
