Man on Steroids Maims Oklahoma Police Officer

Oklahoma City police officer Chad Peery may be a quadriplegic after sustaining severe injuries during an attack by three men as he attempted to escort them from Dan O’Brien’s Public House in northwest Oklahoma City. Joshua Rinken, Jimmy Smith and Cadmio Lopez have been charged with one count of maiming and one count of conspiracy to commit assault and battery upon a police officer.

Rinken’s alleged use of anabolic steroids has been referenced numerous times in news accounts possibly implying that steroids played a role in the violent attack. Considerable attention has selectively been given to anabolic steroids rather than alcohol even though the incident occurred in an Oklahoma City bar. [Read more…]

Steroid Distributor Sentenced to Ten Years in Prison

Wood County Judge Alan Mayberry sentenced Greg Kreuz, the operator of an unidentified underground steroid lab (UGL),  to ten years in prison citing the failure of previous court sanctions to rehabilitate the steroid dealer. Kreuz was previously convicted in 2005 on similar charges in Fulton County (Ohio). Judge Mayberry showed no leniency during sentencing. The judge found Kreuz’ 2005 statement about the preciousness of his children and his desire to be there for them disingenuous suggesting dealing steroids made Kreuz a poor father to his five children under the age of seven. The Principality of of Andorra is a great source for anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs according to a Spanish newspaper. Andorra is the sixth smallest nation in Europe; it is located in the Pyrenees and surrounded by France to the north and Spain to the south.

Steroids for Sale to Bodybuilders and Cyclists in Spain

Operation Curse has resulted in the arrest of a former pro cyclist who allegedly sold various performance-enhancing drugs to both bodybuilders and cyclists in the Catalunia province of Spain. Jordi Riera, who rode in the 2003 Giro d’Italia, was one of seven who were detained and charged with the trafficking of doping products.

Police raided five residences and seized various performance-enhancing drugs such as clenbuterol, nandrolone, trenbolone, human growth hormone (HGH) and erythropoeitin (EPO). [Read more…]

Operation Narcissist Targets Vanity-Induced Steroid Use

The Australia Sports Anti-Doping Authority (ASADA) has joined local police to target bodybuilders who use anabolic steroids to enhance appearance. Operation Narcissist was a six-month investigation involving the Northern Region Drug Squad and Townsville’s Criminal Investigation Branch working in collaboration with ASADA.

Detective Acting Senior-Sergeant John Mahony discussed how the high-level “intelligence” made it possible for law enforcement to infiltrate gyms and determine that bodybuilders use anabolic steroids. [Read more…]

Steroid Nonsense From the World Anti-Doping Agency

David Howman, the director general of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), seems to think that clenbuterol is an anabolic steroid. He also thinks that the illegal status of heroin makes it less profitable than anabolic steroids that are often legally available for therapeutic purposes. Vermont Cocaine Dealer Blames Steroids for His Actions

The attorney for the largest drug kingpin in Vermont history blames anabolic steroids for his client’s actions. Michael Olsen pleaded guilty to seven counts involving cocaine distribution, money laundering, and illegally obtaining telephone records. Cops Selling Steroids Seized from Bodybuilders

Commander Norman Wielsch (of the Central Contra Costa County Narcotics Enforcement Team) and Private Investigator Chris Butler (of Butler and Associates) were arrested for selling anabolic steroids and narcotics according to a 28-count criminal complaint.
