Dogcatcher Busted Buying Anabolic Steroids

Alabama doesn’t mess around when they discover steroid use by the local dogcatchers. The Cullman County Sheriff’s Office organized a controlled steroid sale after obtaining information that a Cullman County Animal Control officer may have been using anabolic steroids.

Josh Smith was arrested after he showed up in his Cullman County Animal Control officer uniform driving the county-owned vehicle to buy steroids. An undercover officer posing as a steroid dealer sold Smith an undisclosed amount of steroids. Agents with the Cullman Narcotics Enforcement Team (CNET) converged upon his vehicle after the sale and arrested him.

The bust of the local dogcatcher for using steroids was carefully orchestrated by CNET agent Chris Thomason.

Smith was taken into custody and charged with the unlawful receiving and possession of anabolic steroids.

The sensitive nature of having one county office arrest another county employee required that the Sheriff’s Office take extra precautions to avoid the appearance of any impropriety surrounding the steroid bust.

The Sheriff made a few calls to other law enforcement offices such as the Cullman Police Department and invited them to participate as observers.

Animal Control Director Tim McCoy was also called and notified about is employee’s steroid use and the controlled sale. McCoy was responsible for retrieving Smith’s vehicle and equipment after the arrest.

Law enforcement officials must be satisfied that the animals of Cullman County are safer tonight after the steroid-enhanced dogcatcher has been taken off the streets.
