Grammy Award-winning rapper Cornell Haynes, Jr., better known by his stage name Nelly, has taken to Twitter to respond to recent allegations that he used anabolic steroids. A man, who identified himself as “Slim”, claiming to be Nelly’s former manager claimed that the best-selling rap artist lost all his money due to gambling, steroid and cocaine addictions and was about to lose his house due to foreclosure as a result.
Nelly quickly responded on Twitter by denying that “Slim” was ever his manager and dismissing all of the allegations in a series of messages posted on the social network and microblogging service. Nelly attributed his muscular physique to a diet of fish, chicken, turkey, champagne, cognac, vodka and beer!
Nelly was previously accused of steroid use after a high-profile drug dealer was arrested and provided police with a list of celebrities who allegedly used anabolic steroids.
In 2008 a high profile drug dealer gave cops a list of celebs who he claimed were using illegal body building drugs and Nelly was one of them.
“The only people who say that is people who don’t work out. Anyone who goes to the gym knows what Nelly is doing is nothing,” Nelly said at the time.
Twitter has been the medium of choice used by several sports and entertainment celebrities to accuse rivals of steroid use. Rapper Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, boxers Floyd Mayweather and Shane Mosely have recently accused boxer Manny Pacquiao of using anabolic steroids in a series of messages posted on Twitter.
