The federal government’s BALCO steroid investigation came to an end with the sentencing of Barry Bonds on Friday. Judge Susan Illston sentenced Bonds to two years probation, 30 days home confinement, 250 hours community service and a $4,000 fine. WADA: Steroid Testing a Failure in War on Doping
David Howman, the director general of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), discussed the disappointing state of steroid testing during a keynote address for the 2011 Partnership for Clean Competition conference. Steroid testing alone has largely been a failure in the war on doping in sports.
