Mixed martial artist Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal was suspended by the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) for nine months and fined $39,000 for a positive steroid test result. Evidence Illegally Obtained in Operación Galgo Steroid Investigation

The Spanish courts continue to thwart anti-doping officials with their latest ruling on a major anti-doping investigation. The Audiencia Provincial de Madrid ruled that evidence seized in the Operación Galgo case was obtained illegally. Consequently, the anabolic steroids, stored blood and medical equipment used for transfusions seized by steroid investigators could not be used to prosecute any of the defendants on doping charges. Steroid Source for Elite and Olympic Athletes Busted in Spain

A joint operation between Mossos d’Esquadra and Spain’s Policia Nacional has resulted in the arrest of ten members of a doping ring that allegedly provided anabolic steroids, human growth hormone, EPO, CERA and other performance-enhancing drug (PEDs) to top amateur, professional and Olympic athletes.  The steroid investigation was codenamed Operación Skype. Football Players Sue After Being Banned Under NFL Steroid Policy

The National Football League banned  Denver Broncos linebacker D.J. Williams and defensive lineman Ryan McBean for violating the NFL’s steroid policy. Williams and McBean were suspended for six games but not because they tested positive for anabolic steroids or any specific banned performance-enhancing substance. The NFL alleged that the two players provided “non-human” urine samples to the drug testing officer. [Read more…]

George Brett Would Boycott Hall of Fame If Steroid Users Inducted

George Brett, the Hall-of-Fame baseball player for the Kansas City Royals, has indicated that he would be the first to boycott the Hall of Fame induction ceremony if an anabolic steroid user made it to Cooperstown. Brian McNamee Calls Coaches the Biggest Steroid Pushers

Brian McNamee recently told a group of high school guidance counselors that coaches were the biggest “pushers” of anabolic steroids. The convicted steroid dealer argued that coaches had a greater influence on a young athlete’s decision to use steroids than street corner dealers.
