Evidence Illegally Obtained in Operación Galgo Steroid Investigation
The Spanish courts continue to thwart anti-doping officials with their latest ruling on a major anti-doping investigation. The Audiencia Provincial de Madrid ruled that evidence seized in the Operación Galgo case was obtained illegally. Consequently, the anabolic steroids, stored blood and medical equipment used for transfusions seized by steroid investigators could not be used to prosecute any of the defendants on doping charges. A joint operation between Mossos d’Esquadra and Spain’s Policia Nacional has resulted in the arrest of ten members of a doping ring that allegedly provided anabolic steroids, human growth hormone, EPO, CERA and other performance-enhancing drug (PEDs) to top amateur, professional and Olympic athletes. Football Players Sue After Being Banned Under NFL Steroid Policy
The National Football League banned Denver Broncos linebacker D.J. Williams and defensive lineman Ryan McBean for violating the NFL’s steroid policy. Williams and McBean were suspended for six games but not because they tested positive for anabolic steroids or any specific banned performance-enhancing substance. George Brett Would Boycott Hall of Fame If Steroid Users Inducted
