Environment Secretary’s Son Youngest Briton to Be Banned for Steroid Use

Jonathan “Jonny” Spelman, the teenage son of British Environment Secretary Caroline Spelman, has been banned from playing rugby after being linked to the use of anabolic steroids.  The Rugby Football Union announced that Jonathan has been banned for 21-months from participating in organized team rugby. Spelman will not be permitted to play in any rugby tournament or match until October 19, 2013. Spelman is recognized as the youngest Briton in history to be banned for a doping violation. Roger Clemens Steroid Trial Considered a Waste of Taxpayer Money

The retrial of Roger Clemens officially starts on Monday. Many people feel that the government’s pursuit of the Major League Baseball pitcher is nothing more than a steroid witch-hunt and a colossal waste of taxpayer money. After the first mistrial, United States District Judge Reggie Walton suggested that government counsel may want to reconsider retrying Clemens. Many of the jurors in the first trial apparently shared the sentiment that the trial was a waste of money. Mike Wallace’s Death Renews Interest in Roger Clemens Steroid Interview

Mike Wallace, the legendary investigative journalist and long-time co-host of CBS’ 60 Minutes, has died at age 93. Wallace had so many remarkable interviews with world figures over a career that spanned decades. However, most news stories are referring readers to the online video interview of Major League Baseball star Roger Clemens regarding accusations that Clemens used anabolic steroids and human growth hormone (hGH). Britain Doesn’t Change Steroid Laws for the Olympics

Anti-doping officials are frustrated with Britain’s refusal to criminalize the personal use of anabolic steroids as the 2012 Summer Olympics come to London. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has celebrated victories in several countries that have adopted tougher anti-doping legislation. Australia, Canada, China and Italy all enacted either permanent or temporary legislation that increased the penalties for steroid use and trafficking when they were the host country for either the Summer or Winter Olympics. Competitive Powerlifter Suspended for Dianabol by Police Department

An eight-year veteran police officer with the Clinton Township Police Department (Michigan) was charged with possession of anabolic steroids without a valid prescription. The illegal steroid was identified as methandrostenolone. The drug is more commonly referred to as Dianabol or D-bol. Patrolman Christopher Weaver was suspended from the police force during the course of a two-month internal affairs investigation into his alleged steroid use. [Read more…]

UFC Heavyweight Alistair Overeem Fails Steroid Test

UFC heavyweight contender Alistair Overeem no longer has plausible deniability when it comes to allegations that Overeem has used anabolic steroids to build his massively-muscled physique. For the first time, the number one UFC heavyweight contender has tested positive for anabolic steroids. Many people believed that steroids were the most likely explanation for his dramatic transformation from  a 185 pound 17-year old to a 260 pound heavyweight mixed martial artist. Steroid Use Keeps Ninety-Four Pound Marathon Runner Out of Olympics

The Court of Arbitration for Sport affirmed the Lithuanian Athletics Federation decision to suspend marathon runner  Živilė Balčiūnaitė after she tested positive for the use of anabolic steroids. Balčiūnaitė tested positive for the anabolic steroid testosterone at the 2010 European Athletics Championship in Barcelona in July 2010. Dave McKay is a long-time Major League Baseball coach. He has coached for over 29 years in addition to playing professionally from 1975-1982. He was at ground zero of the baseball steroid era when he coached the Oakland A’s during the time that the Bash Brothers Mark McGwire and Jose Canseco were making the long ball look easy. Women’s mixed martial artist Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos has finally publicly responded to her positive Winstrol test result. The response came in the form of a “steroid awareness speech” filmed by MMAPrime.tv.
