Roger Clemens Acquitted on Steroid-Perjury Charges as Jury Rebukes Feds
It took a jury only one full day of deliberations after listening to arguments in the nine-week perjury trial of baseball legend Roger Clemens. Clemens was accused by the government of lying about the use of anabolic steroids and human growth hormone (hGH) when he appeared before Congress in 2008. The United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) decided to bring formal charges against Lance Armstrong accusing him of using various prohibited performance enhancing drugs and methods including the anabolic steroid testosterone, erythropoietin (EPO) and blood doping. But Armstrong’s long-time sponsors don’t really care. They have decided to pledge their full support behind Armstrong in spite of the charges that Lance doped for over a decade. WWE Randy Orton Suspended for Dianabol
Professional wrestler Randy Orton has reportedly tested positive for an anabolic steroid in a steroid test administered under World Wrestling Entertainment’s Talent Wellness Program. The violation represents the second offense for Orton since the Wellness Policy took effect. Entertainers are suspended for 30 days for the first offense and 60 days for the second offense. The winner of the 2009 NPC Ohio State Bodybuilding Championship has been been indicted by a Warren County grand jury for trafficking anabolic steroids. NPC bodybuilder Drew Smith was charged with thirteen felony counts of drug trafficking (steroids) in various degrees and one first degree felony count of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity. Dave Henderson Didn’t Use Steroids Because He Had “Good Parents”
Dave “Hendu” Henderson, the former Major League Baseball outfielder who spent time playing for the Oakland Athletics between 1988 and 1993, doesn’t think any anabolic steroids should be voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Henderson appeared on “The Wheelhouse with John Lund”, a sports talk radio show in San Francisco. The highly-touted trial lawyer Rusty Hardin made his opening statements last week in the perjury and obstruction of justice trial of Roger Clemens. Clemens is accused of lying when he denied using anabolic steroids and human growth hormone (hGH) in testimony before Congress.
