Steroid Use is Skyrocketing in Australia According to the Media

The use of anabolic steroids is skyrocketing according to media reports. The claims seem to be based on two sources: customs seizures data and interviews with personal trainers at gyms in Australia.

Government statistics show a dramatic increase in the number of seizures made by customs in the most recent year. The Australian Customs and Border Protection Service announced that it had made 2695 seizures involving anabolic steroids and human growth hormone as of July 2010. This figure represents a 155 percent increase over the 1054 seizures made in the corresponding period last year. [Read more…]

Sheriff Accused of Ignoring Steroid Use by Deputy Charged with Murder

The estate of Jennifer Louise Agee has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against her ex-husband Jonathan Agee in Roanoke Circuit Court. Jonathan Agee was a Franklin County Sheriff’s deputy up until the Memorial Day incident that took the life of Jennifer Agee. The sheriff’s deputy confronted Jennifer Agee, took an assault rifle from his Franklin County police cruiser and fired five shots at close range in a Roanoke parking lot as her daughter watched last Memorial Day. Jennifer Agee was pronounced dead at a local hospital shortly thereafter.

Police have previously pointed the finger at anabolic steroids as the culprit in the murder. Investigators found two vials of steroids, including one vial of testosterone cypionate, at Agee’s home and noted that Agee had “gotten much bigger” in the weeks leading up to the violence. [Read more…]

Axis Labs Charged with Mail Fraud for Selling Steroids in “Monster Caps”

Colorado-based Axis Labs was charged with one criminal count of “mail fraud and aiding and abetting” related to their manufacture and distribution of the product “Monster Caps”. Axis Labs is accused of marketing the products, containing illegal synthetic designer steroids, in a manner showing they intended the product to affect the structure and function of the human body. This made “Monster Caps” an unapproved new drug product subject to regulation by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration according to prosecutors. [Read more…]

“Key Player” in Clandestine Steroid Lab Arrested in the Houston Area

A “key player” in a Houston area anabolic steroid distribution ring was arrested as part of an ongoing investigation by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit (SIU), Houston Police Department’s High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas drug squad and Immigration and Customs Enforcement. High School Volleyball Coach Arrested for Selling Steroids to Students

Police arrested a high school volleyball coach for selling anabolic steroids after a three-month joint investigation by the Friendswood Police Department and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Timothy Todd Porter was arrested along with his two roommates during a raid of his home. Porter taught astronomy and physics in addition to coaching volleyball at Clear Springs High School in League City (Texas). Congressman Thinks Roger Clemens Suffered Enough in Steroids Case

A former Congressman, who was highly active in the Congressional witch-hunt targeting athletes who used anabolic steroids, doesn’t believe the Justice Department should continue its pursuit of Roger Clemens on charges that he lied about his use of steroids. Former United States Representative Tom Davis doesn’t seem to think Clemens is telling the truth but he feels that Clemens has suffered enough and has already paid the price for lying to Congress. Two-Day “Roid Rage” Blamed for Domestic Violence

A Canadian man pleaded guilty this week to two counts of assault arising from an altercation with his fiancée . James Watters faces jail time after admitting to domestic violence that occurred in November 2010. Assistant Crown attorney Steve O’Brien blamed the incident on the defendant’s use of anabolic steroids. The trouble in paradise for the couple allegedly began shortly after Watters starting using steroids to help him build more muscle for bodybuilding. [Read more…]

Police have accused a 24-year old amateur bodybuilder of being a “key distributor” of anabolic steroids in Anchorage, Alaska. Possession of Underground Lab Steroids is Illegal in the United Kingdom

A British bodybuilder pleaded guilty to the possession of anabolic steroids after learning that steroid possession is legal in the United Kingdom only when the steroids are in the form of a “medical product”.  This has been interpreted to exclude steroids manufactured by underground laboratories (UGLs).  Graham McAdams was sentenced to a 12-month conditional discharge related to the possession of UGL steroids for bodybuilding  purposes. Treasure Coast Pharmacy Indicted Along with Doctors Who Wrote Steroid Prescriptions

An investigation into Treasure Coast Pharmacy codenamed “Operation Juice Doctor 2” has resulted in the indictment of thirteen individuals. The arrests come several weeks after the pharmacy was raided by federal and state agents in June 2011. The co-defendants face charges for the illegal distribution of anabolic steroids, human growth hormone and oxycodone. Treasure Coast Pharmacy was one of the largest suppliers of anabolic steroids in the United States according to the government. The indictment named the principal owners and pharmacists associated with Treasure Coast. Prosecutors also took the additional step of charging the owners and “sales consultants” of anti-aging and hormone replacement clinic owners who used Treasure Coast to fill steroid prescriptions for their clients.
