Steroids Blamed for Bodybuilder’s Death as Olympics Approach

A 23-year old man died of unknown causes at Eastbourne District General Hospital shortly after being admitted. Lewis Allan was feeling ill in the early morning hours of October 10, 2011 and was rushed to the hospital.

Since Allan was a bodybuilder who had used anabolic steroids, Sussex Police are operating on the assumption that steroids caused or contributed to his death. Allan had reportedly gained over 50 pounds while using anabolic steroids during the past year. [Read more…]

Cops Praised for Murder Investigation Turned Steroid Bust

British Olympic Association Violates Steroid Doping Rules

British Olympic Association chairman Colin Moynihan defiantly defended the status of the BOA’s by-law 25 which gives a lifetime ban for athletes convicted of using anabolic steroids or performance-enhancing drugs.  Moynihan announced that the BOA will retain the by-law even if it breaks the rules set forth by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). Steroid Use Won’t Keep LaShawn Merritt Out of the Olympics

The International Olympic Committee wanted to permanently keep steroid users, who have served bans greater than 6-months, out of the Olympic Games. However, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruled that the IOC’s so-called “six-month rule” was “invalid and unenforceable” and violated the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) rules. [Read more…]

Steroid Use in Sports is a “Highly Commutable Epidemic”

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and national anti-doping agencies have been treating the use of anabolic steroids and performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs) like an epidemic in sports. They have shown little regard for athlete privacy with increasingly more invasive and intrusive testing requirements. Athletes have given up considerable liberties in order to participate in high-level sports.
