NHL Player’s Lawsuit Leads to Revelations of Steroid Use

British Columbia Supreme Court Justice Austin Cullen ruled that professional hockey player Garrett Burnett failed to prove the essential elements of negligence in his lawsuit against Cheers Nightclub. The former National Hockey League player suffered a traumatic brain injury when an unidentified patron brutally assaulted Burnett by hitting him with a barstool as he was being ejected from the club in the early morning hours of December 26, 2006.  Lawyers for Cheers Nightclub argued that Burnett’s use of steroids was to blame for his victimization. Manufacturing Steroids Considered Child Abuse in New Mexico

A man in New Mexico has been charged with child abuse after police discovered an underground laboratory used to manufacture anabolic steroids in his home. Simply allowing children to be present where the chemicals or equipment for the manufacture of anabolic steroids (controlled substances) are used or stored can be the basis for child abuse charges under New Mexico law. No Teens Identified in Steroid Ring Targeting High School Athletes

Law enforcement officers and local news media in Ohio have been publicizing the bust of a major steroid ring that targeted high school athletes. The Warren County Drug Task Force and the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office have done everything possible to create the perception that the 32 people indicted in the steroid operation were preying on teenage athletes in local area high schools. YMCA Fights Steroids with Christian Principles

Mike Carroll, the CEO of Countryside YMCA in Lebanon, has been celebrating his role as a whistleblower in a multi-jurisdictional investigation that resulted in the indictment of 32 individuals involved in a major steroid distribution ring. Carroll proudly told the media that he was the man responsible for alerting authorities to a steroid dealer at the YMCA which initiated the large-scale investigation. Furthermore, he bragged about secretly cooperating for two years with an undercover police officer who lifted weights with the express goal of infiltrating the local steroid scene at the gym. Victor Conte Suspicious of Former Steroid Dealer Working with Juan Manuel Marquez

BALCO founder Victor Conte recently introduced some additional steroid drama to the world of professional boxing after watching an episode of “24/7: Pacquiao-Marquez”. The HBO reality series features Juan Manuel Marquez and Manny Pacquiao as they train for a rematch taking place in Las Vegas on November 12, 2011. Several people, including boxers Floyd Mayweather, Jr., Shane Mosely and Oscar de la Hoya have suggested that Pacquiao may have used anabolic steroids. Jealous Husband Secretly Spikes Wife’s Food with Dianabol and Anadrol

Dalwara Singh, a food factory production manager, received a 12-month suspended jail sentence for secretly adding anabolic steroids to the food he prepared for his wife of 17 years. Singh used a mortar and pestle to crush tablets of Anapolon (oxymetholone) and Dianabol (methandrosteneolone) into a fine powder that he added to her food and drink. He pleaded guilty to administering “a poison or noxious substance with intent to injure, aggrieve or annoy.” [Read more…]
