Former Department of Public Safety Trooper Jeff Jerman was sentenced to 90 to 180 days in jail after pleading guilty to the delivery of anabolic steroids, a controlled substance. The second-degree felonies involved the delivery of $800 worth of the anabolic steroids trenbolone, nandrolone and stanozolol to a Kerrville Police Officer in a steroid deal in the local H-E-B parking lot on September 7, 2009.
Jerman faced up to 6 years on the three State charges but Texas District State District Judge Rex Emerson sentenced Jerman to minimal jail time, three years probation and a $1000 fine. Defense attorneys had asked for an adjudicated sentence. The prosecution asked for two years in prison.
Jerman was also indicted on Federal charges involving one count of conspiracy to distribute anabolic steroids along with co-defendants Jeffrey H, Mike T, and Ray Q. He faces a maximum of five years in prison on that charge. The federal trial is scheduled to begin in May 2011.
