Former Department of Public Safety Trooper “Jeffery J” pleaded guilty to three counts of delivery of a controlled substance. The Texas State Trooper admitted selling trenbolone, nandrolone and stanozolol for $800 to a Kerrville Police Officer in a steroid deal in the local H-E-B parking lot on September 7, 2009. Kerrville cop “Danny S” was fired from the department on September 18, 2009 after an internal affairs investigation into the steroid deal.
State Trooper “Jeffrey J.” faces up to 6 years on the three State charges when he is sentenced next month. He was also indicted on Federal charges involving one count of conspiracy to distribute anabolic steroids along with co-defendants Jeffrey H, Mike T, and Ray Q. He faces a maximum of five years in prison on that charge. The federal trial is scheduled to begin at the end of the month.
Jerman also faces a federal charge of conspiring to distribute steroids, which carries a maximum sentence of five years. Trial in that case is set for Feb. 28 in U.S. District Court in San Antonio.
The Texas State Trooper case highlights the real problem with cops using steroids. It does not involve roid rage and/or health concerns; it involves corruption and the potential pariticipation of law enforcement participation in illegal steroid distribution networks.
