Michael Lohan, the troubled father of the troubled actress Lindsay Lohan, is currently receiving treatment for the abuse of anabolic steroids and “co-dependency issues” at a residential treatment center in Florida according to RadarOnline.com. Palm Partners Recovery Center is overseeing Lohan’s reported rehabilitation for steroid abuse.
Lohan was ordered to spend four months at Palm Partners as part of a one-year probationary sentence outlined in a plea agreement with Hillsborough County prosecutors. Lohan pleaded no contest to domestic violence charges arising from an incident with his former girlfriend Kate Major.
Lohan was arrested on October 25, 2011 after Major called 911 in a domestic violence incident in Tampa. Major claimed Lohan went into a rage after she refused to “give him a ‘bl*w job'”. However, Lohan claimed Major got upset after he “ejaculate[d] inside her” against her wishes.
Lohan and Major ‘s conflict-filled relationship was publicized in the fifth season of the reality television show “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew”.
Major told Dr. Drew Pinsky that Lohan’s violent outburst was the result of “roid rage”. She found a bag in his bathroom that presumably contained steroids.
“I had agreed to meet with him. I said I wouldn’t meet with him alone. I didn’t know he was on steroids,” told Dr. Drew.
News of Lohan’s treatment for “steroid abuse” comes after numerous hospitalizations for heart-related and clotting problems over the past few weeks.
Lohan has had two heart surgeries in the past year. He underwent surgery to removed a blockage at his posterior interventricular artery in February 2011. He had a stent inserted and a had a blood clot removed from one of his lungs at the Gulf Coast Hospital in Fort Myers in December 2011.
He has been hospitalized twice since the latest surgery.
Anabolic steroids are contraindicated in individuals with advanced heart disease.
